Koscielny news and World Cup stuff

It has been quite possibly the most boring World Cup in history, and that didn’t change today. Cesc didn’t manage to get any minutes minutes of football today when Spain took on Switzerland. Many expected Spain to win this match, but they didn’t. It ended up being an uninteresting 1-0 match to the Swiss. Cesc should know that if he can’t get into the starting eleven for Spain, how on Earth is he going to get into the starting eleven for Barca?

Besides the World Cup, Koscielny is keen on making the switch to the gunners. Here is what his agent said,

“‘Laurent told the Lorient president and coach that he wants to move to Arsenal come what may.

“It is hard to ignore interest from Arsene Wenger. Lorient’s directors want to get over £8.3m from Arsenal.

“We have held talks with them, and with a sell-on clause inserted in the deal we are not far off agreement.”

I think Arsene should still sign one more centre back after Koscielny, and it looks like he is going after Jan Vertonghen. Arsene has had a hard time with defence in the last five years, and I think that the main problem is the goalkeeping. Wenger hasn’t had a real number 1 since Lehmann left, but I believe that Szczęsny could be a great number 1 in the future. He should be given a chance at the beginning at next season, ahead of Almunia and Fabianski.

The new Premier League fixtures come out tomorrow, you can read about the whole thing here. I hope we get an easy task, preferably Blackpool or Bolton home, but we just have to wait and see.

Thanks for reading, bye.
