Lets start off with the World Cup. France lost 2-0 to Mexico yesterday, it was your typical Arsenal defence that caused Mexico’s first goal, and Carlos Vela got injured. No surprise that that was how the game finished. Argentina won 4-1 over South Korea, while Nigeria lost to Greece. Wenger should really keep an Vincent Enyeama, the Nigerian goalkeeper. He has done really well in the Nigerian goal, being man of the match in Nigeria’s two games.
Arsene has stated that he will sign a new defender before the World Cup. Here is what Arsenal.com says,
Arsène Wenger hopes to tie up a defensive signing before the end of the World Cup.
The Arsenal manager is out in South Africa commentating for French television but he is also working on bringing a player to Emirates Stadium. Speaking exclusively to Arsenal.com, the manager admitted a signing was not imminent. However he did expect to bring in a defender before the tournament ends on July 11.
“No, we are not close at the moment,” said Wenger. “We are quiet. But there will be something happening before the end of the World Cup – certainly on the defensive side.”
I’m sure that it will be a centre back, most likely Laurent Koscielny or Van der Viel. I don’t care which one he signs as long as he brings a goalkeeper with them.
Silvestre is heading out to the middle east to join Al Jazira for £4 a year. Silvestre will not be remembered as an Arsenal great, and will be forgotten. If you think about his two seasons with Arsenal, he played pretty bad in a lot of games, but he also got a lot of undeserved slack. You really couldn’t expect Arsene to sign some one form Manchester United for less than £1 million pounds and turn out to be a great player. Adios Mikael.
