Arsenal v SK Sturm Graz Player Ratings

Fabianski 6– Had little to do and didn’t make a mistake when called upon.

Vermaelen 7– Great tackling and very, very reliable.

Nordtveit 8– Wonderful match, made great tackles and made some good crosses.

Djourou 6– Didn’t do anything special but still played well.

Traore 7– Played 2 positions in the match, didn’t do too well in midfield but tried hard.

Nasri 8– Another wonderful match for the Frenchman. Scored 2 beautiful goals and controlled most of the tempo in the first half.

Walcott 6– Some people would disagree with me saying that he had a lot of the ball and played well, but he really wasn’t that good. His pace is great, he can get to almost any ball on the pitch, but his end product is dreadful. He really needs to work on that or he isn’t going to find to much playing time. You can’t hide the truth that he really isn’t that good, but he still has more potential than most Arsenal youngsters and will be one of the best future players in the world if he improves his finishing.

Frimpong 6– Didn’t live up to expectations from the last game, but still played ok.

Wilshere 8– Made some beautiful passes and was really aggressive. He isn’t afraid to try anything on the pitch.

Arshavin 7– Made a few good passes and should have scored a goal after linking up well with Walcott if it wasn’t for the linesman calling him offside.

Chamakh 7– You can see he is still adjusting, but I thought he made some great passes and did well in the air, almost scoring a goal.

Szczesny 6– Didn’t have anything to do throughout the match but still made a couple of saves. I think he is going to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world someday, so I don’t Wenger to sign another goalkeeper and sell him to some club and become great. This kid has some real potential.

Koscielny 7– He did really well coming up for corners, but he didn’t have much to do defensively.

Gibbs 6– Didn’t have much to do but made a couple of good passes.

Eastmond 5– I’m not sure if he touched the ball to many times throughout the game. He is another player that has lots of potential though.

Lansbury 7– Scored a great goal and made some good passes.

Rosicky 8– An 8 might be a little high but I think he was definitely one of the better players today.

Emmanuel Thomas 8– Controlled the rhythm in the second half for us. He also set up Lansbury and Walcott in one he should have had.
