Arsenal Should let Wenger Go

It’s been 5 years, 11 months and 3 days or 2164 days since Arsenal last won a major trophy. That is too long for one of the best teams in the world.

In 3 months, we have gone from saying we will win the quadruple to, in my opinion, fighting for third place. It has been an amazing downfall, and you can only blame one person, Arsene Wenger.

It’s true that Wenger has achieved so much with the club and he has done some great things for the club, but for the past six years, it has been nothing but the same, Wenger produces some new youth players and we finish 4th or 3rd, refusing to spend money when the money is available, and Wenger refusing to try new formations and defensive techniques.

Today’s game against Bolton, who last we got thrashed by Stoke, scored two simple goals off us off of a corner kick. I don’t  know where the marking was in those two goals, but every player should be braking their necks to get to the ball. Instead, we have some players following the players run up, seeming to not make an effort. This has been going on for what seems like forever but Wenger refuses to do anything about set pieces.

The 4-2-3-1 formation Wenger is playing is terrible. Van Persie is not a lone striker, Walcott should be involved more, and we shouldn’t have two defensive midfielders. After drawing 0-0 against Sunderland and Blackburn, you would think Wenger would change his formation right? Wrong! Wenger has continued this and we have once out of our last nine games in all competitions.

Some people may say I’m not a real fan if I want Wenger sacked, but you people need to come out and think, what is he going to achieve for the club in the next few years. He has already stated that he will continue his youth policy for next season and it’s not like we don’t have great youth players, it’s we need real leaders and strong players with expierence.

  1. Wenger’s record at Monaco looks remarkably the same as his record at Arsenal: won the title in his first year of management (with the previous management’s players), lost a number of European competition finals, won the odd domestic cup competition, developed a huge amount of youth talent and never been out of GE top three. It’s not a bad record, but it does back up your point of him being remarkably obstinate and of hoping that his tactics will eventually come good.

Wenger was sacked by Monaco for an indifferent start to a season. His recent record with Arsenal would have us close to the relegation zone if it were replicated over an entire season. He can count himself fortunate that this poor run has started at the end of a season when the downside should be limited. But if it results in us losing Nasri and Fabregas over the close season, then someone should be accountable and that person is Wenger.

  2. i do blame wenger entirely. our players have bwen good, but wenger’s tactical formation is ridiculous. do we need to remind wenger that we need to shoot to get a goal? for me it looks like our players only know how to pass a ball, but not to get a goal. in football u have to be opportunistic to win a game (like bolton did) and not to be a perfectionist (like arsenal did). it was obvious that we cant get in to bolton’s penalty box, then why not try to shoot from outside? they werent really closing down our players, but only overcrowding their penalty area instead. its clear that wenger need to add more shooting variety in his tactic, or he should go.

    • Did you watch the game? Did you count the number of shots from outside the box? There were plenty – Cesc hit the post from one such and others were off target! We probably need a great goal-scorer. Even RVP’s free kick was awful. Makes you wonder why they are being paid ridiculous amount and are ‘professional’players.

      • there were some tries, but i wont call that a ‘shoot’. not really threatening, and nothing no worry. in fact i spent 95minutes cursing in front of my tv.

  3. SERIOUSLY I JUST CANT STAND WENGER ANYMORE,A GUY THAT REFUSES CHANGE AFTER HIS FLOPS CAUSED BY HIM THE LEAST IS FOR TO LEAVE N SHAME TO ALL WHO SAYS HE SHOULD STAY

  4. i have nothing to say…..this team and wenger policies have hurt me so much that i have nothing more to say…wenger plzzzz leave the club bcoz the board wont sack u coz u make profits for them

    Really?

You read about what the players say and you fail to see that there are problems in the dressing room.

    You’re a gunner fan. Really?

  7. Yeah… I’m sorry, maybe this time I agree. Wenger should realize he have done.
Recently Fabregas spoke about Wenger in media. I’m not suprised.

Well, I see no spirit every game. They just play in the game. They dont show they want a win. Leading 1 goal is never enough.. The game stop when the whistle blow.

The fact, I dissapointed. I dont know from what section we can start the changes. Maybe from the coach?

I’m sorry if my english is not good. cause I’m from Asia.

  8. Wenger should change this his atitude of youth problems if not arsenal will always be without trophy that is empty season for the next 10 years.

  9. Wenger should leave now,we don’t need a top four coach,we need someone who can challenge for titles.I’m sick n tired of his stories n I believe his a confused man.Wenger pls leave…………..we don’t need u anymore,u should go n manage a football academy(mr Wenger)I’m so so heart broken that I don’t know what else to tell this old man,we have seen enough.

  10. let we the fans stop going to stadium, let leave the stadium emty on every march day, stop buy arsenal’s jeersy, and let see where he will make the profit.

  11. HOW IS IT 60,000 PLUS SUPPORTERS CAN SEE IT,AND YET
THAT THICK FRENCHMAN, SO CALLED MANAGER OF OURS
CARN’T,THE ANSWER IS AS PLAIN AS YOUR NOSE ON YOUR FACE,”ARSENAL ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH”AND WHILE
WENGERS IN CHARGE THEY NEVER WILL BE,WENGER I’M
TRYING TO BE AS POLITE AS I CAN,”PISS OFF”AND TAKE
ALL THE CRAP PLAYERS WITH YOU, AND LET’S START AGAIN WITH A NEW MANAGER.
    “WITH A NEW MANAGER”.

  12. The team sucks, the defence is awful they concede textbook set pieces they cant hold on to a lead, Wenger buys crappy French and Italian defenders at cut prices for what???? This crap has to stop and without delay, proper players with the Arsenal institution at heart should be brought in, look at Vidic he will break a leg or neck for United in defence you will not score easily playing against United our defenders dont like the gritty stuff they dont dive to defend the ball they wont slide to block the ball thats some shyte look at Terry and them playing they will break a limb defending the ball, im tired of this flippin nonsense we need new tactics, new players with balls of steel and above all a new tactician who will spend money to get things right, AW it was good whilst it lasted but so long Le Boss your time is just up Real Madrid is beckoning go try project youth there.

    • You forgot Arsene Wenger bought Vermaelen who is I suppose also a crap player? Who do you reckon should come and take over? Who said Arsenal players don’t get their limbs broken while playing for the club? You have forgotten the heroics of Eduardo & Ramsey so soon? My point is when you started to support Arsenal, you must already know that this is not a spending club! The greatest player we ever signed was D Bergkamp and it was a steal!

  13. Everyone is asking for the sacking of Wenger. I just want to make one point. Please name a replacement as well, a name that the fans can be sure of. Please name a realistic replacement.

    • Unfortunately there are not many to choose from. In my post I mention Jose, who in fairness does very well wherever he goes. We could always loan him out!

  14. We cant ignore the ex players view on whats happened. I love the football and I love the club but look at the team, is there any one player who would have a fight if needs be? Jens is about the only one there who you could rely on if things got naughty. This is a poor example of what I am trying to say but we need some leaders. Currently we have a team full of young european players who are clearly gifted at playing football. But not one of them could knock the froth off a coffee. I like the look of the german, Mertezaker(spelling?) and then another giant for midfield. Who knows, but if AW does go, who do we get? Jose for a season or two before he gets bored of the rain?

  15. Mr wenger has vindicated jose mourinho’s criticism of him once again, just after the portugese tactician tongue lashed mr wenger, the arsenal boss responded by failing again, i do not knw wat arsenal fans hav done to deserve all dis shame and sadicism. There is very little to be proud of in arsenal and arsene wenger right nw i think d time’s right 4 dis frenchman to go,.,frank Rijkard were u at

  16. OK so I’m a Spurs fan but I’m going to do something very difficult for me, defend an Arsenal manager.
This man has given you year upon year of Champions League football.
Has treated you to the most attractive football in the PL every season.
Steered you through potential financial ruin during your move to the Emirates, one of the best stadiums in Europe.
Perhaps the unfeasible amount of silverware he delivered in his first 8 years has turned your heads. Truth is, there are more clubs closing the gap on the top sides so it’s getting more difficult. You have no divine right to win.
He has ensured you’ve been in with a shout for pretty much every competition so, OK, the fickle finger of fate has been against you but getting rid of Wenger is not the answer. I’m sure they’ll be a change in policy for next season and the chequebook may be dusted but all Spurs fans and the rest of the PL hope you carry on driving him out of the club because there’s no-one better out there right now and we may even overtake you at last!
