This Saturday we are taking on a Liverpool side who are going to be on their first high for 6 years. They accomplished something we failed to do last season, win the game that was going to make or break their season. Yes, liverpool will be looking confident, but a win for us can really bring them back down to earth. A win for Arsenal may also make Liverpool’s chances of finishing fourth fade away.
Arsenal have also been on a high of late, finishing off a good February in the league with a 5-2 win over Tottenham. Robin Van Persie continued his fine form while Theo Walcott also had a good game, scoring 2 goals in the second half. Tomas Rosicky capped off a wonderful performance with a delicate left footed lob over Brad Friedel to score his first goal since January 2010.
Injuries & Team News
on Abou Diaby
Diaby is available again.
on Tomas Rosicky
He has a back problem as well but I think he will play. It is 50:50.
on Van Persie coming off at half time in midweek
It was planned by his manager because he knows we have a tough schedule. We are the only team in the world who plays Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Tuesday.
on Aaron Ramsey (ankle)
It is too early for him, he has no chance for the weekend. He will be out for Milan as well. The earliest he could come back is for Newcastle.
on Johan Djourou (thigh)
He is not far. He could be OK for Milan maybe.
Predicted Starting XI: Szczesny; Gibbs, Koscielny,Vermaelen,Sagna; Song,Arteta,Rosicky; Oxlade Chamberlain, Van Persie, Walcott
This is by no means an “easy game” as Anfield is always a tough place to get 3 points from. Last season, Arsenal tied 1-1 with Pepe Reina scoring an own goal in the last minute. The season before that, Arshavin scored the winner as Arsenal won 2-1. Arsenal will be hoping to get another 3 points to help them get that final Champions League spot.
