Arsenal V Man Utd- Negatives and Positives

Walcott puts Arsenal ahead

Arsenal secured a point against Man Utd with Walcott scoring in the 2nd minute before Van Persie scored off of a penalty after a Sagna error. The winner wasn’t to come and arsenal had to make due with one point. Here are some positives and negatives of the match:

Positives

Arsenal’s first half performance- Arsenal started much better than Utd. The passing was fluid, the players were aggressive, and their was a sense of belief in the time. Had Sagna not conceded a penalty, Arsenal would have kept the momentum with them and surely would have done the same in the second half.

Aaron Ramsey- A couple of weeks ago, I would have sold Aaron Ramsey. He didn’t seem like he fit in well in the premier league, with a few Denilson-esque performances. Today, however, he was really magnificent. Sure his passing was spot on always, but the most important thing was, his attitude. If he can improve on his finishing and passing, he can be a starter week in-and-out.

Per Mertesacker- Per was very solid today. He won almost every ball in the box and brought out a yellow card from Van Persie. He has definitely improved this season, becoming one of our first choice players on the pitch

How we played- Okay, the second half performance was far from fantastic, and Utd had already won the league, but the fact that Arsenal was able to play so fluently against the champions was a big positive for me. If we can play like this every game, we would surely be title contenders for next season.

Negatives

Bacary Sagna- Our worst player today in my opinion. He has really deteriorated this season, which is sad considering he was one of the best right backs in the league. Definitely needs to be sold this summer.

Lukas Podolski- I was excited that he was starting up front as he hasn’t been given enough opportunities to shine through the middle this season. I feel like he has had a good first season out on the wing, but there is definitely some need for improvement. Today, he had a lackluster performance. He was hardly in the game and seemed to be playing a false number 9 position rather than a target man.

The Second Half- After Arsenal went into half time, Utd came out more and had much more possession. The penalty turned our game around and just like last season, Van Persie has almost decided where we are going to be playing next season.

  1. I really do not blame Podolski. His shot through the middle was given him again the current champions Manchester United, never forget that!

  2. Arsenal have just a few premiership players. In a team where Ramsey had to be man of the match, that team is not good at all.

  3. I hardly drop remarks, but i did some searching and wound up here Arsenal V Man Utd- Negatives and
Positives | The Gooner Monkey. And I actually do have a couple of
questions for you if you tend not to mind.
Could it be only me or does it look as if like a few
of these remarks appear like written by brain dead folks?

😛 And, if you are posting on additional sites, I would like to keep
up with anything new you have to post. Would you make a
list of all of all your communal pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook
    page or twitter feed?

  4. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog
that’s both educative and interesting, and without a doubt,
you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue is
something which too few men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy I stumbled across this during my search for something regarding this.
