Not a lot going on in the world of football to report of, but as always, there are a few rumours to report. First off, Manchester City youngster Abdisalam Ibrahim says that it would be an “honour” to play for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger.
“I’m very flattered to be linked with Arsenal, I grew up as an Arsenal fan and my hero was Patrick Vieira when he was playing there,” Ibrahim is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“I would be very honoured to play for Arsenal and it would be all my dreams come true to work with Arsene Wenger.
Don’t know anything about the player to be honest. All I know is that he is Norweigen, 22, and spent the last couple of years on loan at Strømsgodset. He seems a little old to be a transfer target for Wenger, considering he doesn’t have any experience in a top league in Europe. Anyways, there is no confirmation whether Arsenal are even after him. It’s just the player stating his desires.
Another player linked is Senegalese striker Ibrahima Toure. He is 27 years old and currently plays for AS Monaco. Monaco have been on a transfer spree this summer, having already bought James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Ricardo Carvalho, and maybe Falcao. Toure scored 18 goals in 35 appearances in the second division in France last season and has a good scoring record overall in his career. He looks very much like a player Wenger will sign: He’s gonna be cheap, he’s only played in the France second division, and nobody else in the world is going to sign him. The last player Wenger signed from the France second division was Koscielny, and look at the player he is today. This would be a gamble, and Wenger likes a gamble.
There were a few internationals played yesterday in which a few Arsenal players got some game time. One of them was Germany v Ecuador, with Podolski and Mertesacker both featuring. Podolski scored after an amazing nine seconds before grabbing a well taken second goal. Mertesacker skippered the side who won 4-2. England also player Ireland as I’m sure you know. Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain both started and had some ups and downs. Best to leave it at that because in all honesty, it was a dreadful game.
Anyways, have a good rest of your day.
