Woo! Only 3 more days until REAL football is back!
Just felt like giving a quick update in case you weren’t aware over what went down this international break. Let’s start off with Arsenal’s new man, Mesut Özil.
Özil and our current skipper Mertesacker both started both games for Germany, which were two 3-0 wins against Austria and the Faroe Isalnds. Ozil had an impressive first game with an even more impressive 99% pass average. He scored from the spot against the Faroe Islands. Mertesacker also managed to get onto the score sheet, tapping home from all of 2 yards. Both players are well and fit for Saturday’s game against Sunderland.
Sanogo, Arsenal’s other somewhat new signing, played for France last Thursday I believe and managed to create 3 assists. Usually, I wouldn’t give a care in the world what would happen to him but seeing that we only have one recognizable striker in Olivier Giroud, he may be more important than we ever thought. He injured his back and missed the game on Tuesday so only time will tell if he is fit for Saturday.
Speaking of Giroud, he played a couple of games for France and failed to score. All is well with him at the moment and with his French compatriot, Laurent Koscielny.
Cazorla and Monreal were in the Spain squad who played Thursday so they have a bit of time to rest.
Wilshere and Walcott both played two games for England as they edged closer to qualifying for the World Cup. Walcott scored for England and might have picked up a slight knock. We don’t know the extent of the damage but all gooners will be hoping that he is all fine. If not, Gnarby will probably be next to fill in. Wilshere is never fit so I don’t know what’s up with him.
The only main injury picked up is one by Rosicky, who happened to score for the Czech Republic. He came off before half time and once again, we will have to wait to see the extent of the damage done. Also, Aaron Ramsey may have gotten injured but there has been little news about that.
All answers and more will be revealed in Wenger’s pre-match press conference this Friday.
